BEING PRESENT IS THE BEST PRESENT

Recently, I overheard a group of women chatting about how Christmas falls on the heels of Thanksgiving this year. “It all feels so rushed – like there’s not enough time," they expressed.

Ah, timeWe have a funny relationship with it, don’t we? We are either chasing it, or finding it - but then it's only if we get the time to do it. We are racing against time, running out of time. Time, it appears, is an elusive partner we cannot seem to keep up with.

Somehow, time flew and we now find ourselves in the magical month of December, rounding out the end of the year.  On top of our time crunch, this is when we tend to load on a bunch of expectations and “to do’s”– planning, gifting, traveling… oh, and decorating and donating and baking and list making and hosting and toasting and whew!! It’s a mad dash to New Year’s! While incredibly fun for many, it can also lead to a huge sense of overwhelm.

This December, with all the holiday stress,

give yourself and everyone around you the best present of all

your genuine presence.

Often, we get so carried away with all the activity, that we miss the true meaning of these precious days. Whenever you can, pause, take a breath, and savor the moment. Instead of rushing to some elusive finish line, embrace the time you get to share with those you love.

For some, December may be a time in which presence feels like a burden as you’d just as soon forget all the festivities - you may be struggling in your own life, or the mere thought of celebrating is painful as your heart aches for those you are missing.

But the gift of the present is still here for you as you take in the warmth of those you are blessed to be surrounded by this year, and treasure the sweet surprises that show up, no matter how hard the days may seem.

One last thing... It’s not about goals for the next few weeks! Leave that to January!

For now, let go of expectations and shift into the experience. Value connection over control.  Peace over perfection.

Dance and sing to cheesy holiday tunes, eat fattening cookies, take a ride or walk to look at the sparkling decorations, stay a bit longer with your family and friends, sharing the gift of togetherness. Embrace the light, both outside and within, and feel into the beauty and grace of this unique moment, molded in time.

Acknowledge and enjoy what you have created and attracted into your life this year– and get ready to thrive in 2025!!
